Tent distributions to the afflicted households, supported by Kind Hearts

توزيع خيام للنازحين

Syrians endure an unspeakable tragedy driven by the continued siege, rainstorms and freezing cold in the north. Bearing the burden of livelihood hardships, they barely obtain day-to-day necessities as they lack constant income sources that may assist them overcoming this misery and alleviate their suffering.

Damage caused by Rains:

Rainstorms in the north has resulted into fatal damages. More than 320 were swept away by the rain, along with all living necessities. Some 800 tents witnessed partial damage but still posed serious challenges to people living inside. Movement in and between camps was impeded by mud torrents that forced thousands of families to stay in the open amid the freezing temps.

Distribution of tents to the afflicted families:

As means to support the afflicted households, alleviate their suffering and help them finding shelter during the cold winter, “Beyaz Eller Organization” rushed to implement a number of urgent relief projects to reconstruct tents for the afflicted families using funds from ‘Basma Tab’oun’ and under the supervision of ‘Kind Hearts- Palestine 48”.

The project targeted northern Aleppo suburbs with distribution and setting-up of 110 tents to 110 households who suffer extreme coldness. The project benefited 550 persons in the area.

Tent distributions rescue many victims:

Our team hurried to the afflicted area and met families whose tents were swept away by rains as they try to collect whatever they could reach. A man in his sixties was badly exhausted in the attempts of pulling his tent out of water. It was the only shelter for his household.

Another benefiter said: “My mother is an elder woman with poor health. She would not have survived this temp in the open. I could do nothing for her either. I cannot bring another tent at the moment.”

One of the benefiters said: “We have no other shelter but the one that was soaked in rain water. I was so scared of spending this night in the open with my little children. I feared they wouldn’t survive the cold and rain”

Project significance:

The project responds to an unexpected crisis that took homes of thousands of deported households. The distribution of tents and living necessities rescued many households from staying in the open amid these bad temps, heavy rain and storms. Many elder and young people would not have survived this crisis. The project supported the benefiters’ psychological wellbeing as they have received support of donating and caring brothers.
