Immediate response to the earthquake affected in Syria and Turkey

On February 6, 2023, a devastating earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 struck both Syria and Turkey, leaving a massive humanitarian disaster. The people of both countries faced a real tragedy, with many losing their loved ones, homes being destroyed, and significant damage to infrastructure.

 

White Hands Association's Response:

From the very beginning, the White Hands Association acted urgently, demonstrating its steadfast commitment to assisting the affected and displaced. An emergency team was formed, and efforts were made to assess needs and provide immediate relief.

 

Aid Provided to Earthquake Victims:

  1. Distribution of essential supplies:
  • 396 heaters and heating materials were distributed to help people cope with cold weather and emergency living conditions.
  • 532 food baskets containing essential food items were distributed to provide food for affected families.
  • 8000 cooked meals and 8000 bread loaves were distributed to provide hot meals for the affected.
  1. Shelter provision:
  • 5719 shelter items including blankets, tents, and other tools were distributed to provide temporary shelter for the affected people
  • 402 tents were set up to provide safe shelter for families who lost their homes.
  1. Provision of safe drinking water:
  • 700 packs of drinking water were distributed to the affected.
  1. Provision of personal hygiene items:
  • 200 hygiene kits containing essential personal hygiene supplies were distributed to the affected.

Results:

The efforts of the White Hands Association helped alleviate the suffering of many earthquake victims. Basic supplies, shelter, safe drinking water, and personal hygiene means were provided to thousands of families.
