Ambulatory system that help paramedics providing urgent medical treatment

In Syria, the increasing number of injured civilians who survived ongoing offenses on cities and civilian residents are further afflicted by difficulties to commute wounded and injured victims to the few working hospitals. In addition, shortage in blood donation and the high risk for caching infections, altogether, increase the death toll in the war tormented country.

Therefore, Beyaz Eller, supported by the “International Islamic Charity Organization”, has worked on establishing an ambulatory system of five fully equipped ambulances that help paramedics providing urgent medical treatment, undertake small surgeries, and revive patients with oxygen administration or electric shocks, until they reach a hospital. In a six-month duration, 125,000 have received medical treatment every month; which is equivalent to 25,000 patients per car.

Although the ambulatory system was established in Ma’ar Shourin, Idlib countryside, its work has extended beyond the city borders. It contributed to a relief campaign for the IDPs moving from Aleppo, provided treatment to victims of the chemical offense on Khan Sheikhoun, northern Hama countryside, and served victims of repeated shelling of Aleppo and Idlib countryside.

The idea behind this project consists of evacuating injured and wounded people trapped under ruins and providing preliminary medical care to patients/victims on the way from homes/incident locations to the nearest hospital/medical point. Also, during emergencies, ambulance cars provide health services to patients who endure sudden shocks or crises that require quick transfer to hospital.

During the service

During the service, contact is established with close hospitals, centres, and medical points that function within the ambulatory system’s work area. Our team coordinates the transportation of patient/wounded civilians from incident locations to the hospital, and searches for a relevant hospital that can receive the ambulatory case.
