Supporting the displaced people of Eastern Ghouta

Displacement is the worst kind of torture. The displaced are thrown out of their homes with no particular destination or shelter to resort to. Because of the numerous perils that endanger their lives, “Beyaz Eller” organization spares no effort to direct urgent relief projects to support the IDPs who were forced off their homes and whose livelihood conditions are extremely harsh.

Effects of displacement

Raqqa and Deir al-Zour suffer from ceaseless shelling and battles that cause thousands of the population to flee to the suburbs of Idlib and northern Aleppo, among others from various districts. The harsh winter conditions that are common in these areas have made it necessary to prepare needed aid a feat accomplished by “Beyaz Eller” organization.

About the Project

Aided by the International Islamic Charity (IICO), “Beyaz Eller” organization worked on delivering comprehensive urgent assistance to 300 displaced households of the Eastern area. Winter assistance consisted of 300 heaters and its equipment, 40,000 litres of mazut, and 1,000 winter clothing, as means to alleviate the immediate effects of winter. The total number of beneficiaries was 1,500 individuals.

Stories from the Field

One of the benefiters relates…

An over-seventy wheelchaired woman spoke to our team as tears welled up in her eyes:

“After we were forcefully displaced from our city, we slept with our families outdoors with no shelter in freezing conditions until we received  winter clothing.”Adding:“ We suffer a catastrophic and inhumane situation”

“I left home with my grandson. The road was too long and harsh. But our deportation was even worse. How will I live away from my house and my city?”

A 40-year old man found a place to stay with his family. But it was very poorly equipped that he could not light the heater to warm his kids. He relates:

“I lost his wife in the shelling and now has to care for my four kids. We are surrounded by hardships but hope the situation will change.”

Continuing for you

The dire conditions make it necessary that we continue delivering projects and services to lessen the suffering around us,indifferent of any obstacles. So long as our aim is to rescue the needy, we will pursue it with iron wills.
