Distributing Hygiene Baskets in Aleppo in Collaboration with Al-Nouri

War has caused an unending flood of displacement and refugees. Meanwhile, displacement destinations are poverty stricken making it hard for IDPs to provide essential life support. Due to the increase in prices, refugees give priority to food needs neglecting essential health requirements that could cause hazards on the long term.

Implementation Procedures

The forced siege has prevented families from providing necessary hygiene supplies leading to the appearance of numerous skin diseases as allergy, rash and skin fungus. As thus the hygiene basket program has become a priority for “Beyaz Eller Organization” in besieged areas.

The association aided by “Sheikh Abdullah Al-Nouri Charity Society” began to buy hygiene supplies for the baskets and distributing them to the besieged families in Aleppo, contributing to the general hygiene of the displaced and decreasing hazard of diseases caused by lack of personal hygiene supplies.

The basket consisted of (hair shampoo, soap, sterilizers, washing detergent, powder, bath towels, towels, and nail clipper). Items were bought and baskets were distributed among the check listed families. 5000 persons benefited from the program in the besieged city.

Medical Cases

We met a mother of 3 children, the eldest aged 7 suffering from skin problems:

A seventeen year old young man suffering from severe allergy .

who stated that her son had been suffering from a rash for a month and they used water to cleanse but it needed disinfectants- which they lacked.

stated that water supplies were scarce and sporadic, moreover there are no detergents to wash clothes so they were forced to keep wearing the same unwashed clothes. He continues that one does not realize the importance of many simple details unless he lacks them. It has become very hard for them to get supplies for personal hygiene especially when their priority is getting food to stay alive
