A New Winter and Endless Misery

Winter adds a different level of misery to IDPs fleeing war horrors in Syria. With the advent of the cold season, pain and suffering multiply as over 5,300 families were forced out of their homes lacking the simplest necessities and basic winter supplies. Displaced families could only resort to camps and olive trees to escape widespread military assaults in the Syrian inside.

Meanwhile, winter storms have soaked many camps in mud, forcing afflicted families to follow traditional heating methods that triggered fire incidents in many refugee/IDPs camps. To avert a renewed crisis, ‘Beyaz Eller’ has launched its second consecutive winter campaign ‘Warmth’ to alleviate the misery of displaced and needy households.

The organization has targeted provision of basic winter supplies (blankets, mattresses, pillows, and mats) to displaced households. Also, it succeeded to distribute 18,470 winter clothing sets, and targeted several need areas- e.g., Homs, Idlib, the Coast, Aleppo, Hama, Damascus countryside, and refugee camps. The total number of beneficiaries from our ‘Warmth’ campaign has reached 183,729 individuals.
