“Zi Qar” School in Year 2016-2017

The miser humanitarian conditions in northern Syria and the relentless bombardment of schools put on our shoulders the responsibility to help young generations developing their learning, physical, and psychological capabilities and realize their dreamed future. We seek a continued support to education and delivery of all services that enable teachers and students of undertaking their roles, now and in the future.

With the beginning of year 2016-2017, we collaborated with “Insani Team for Humanitarian Initiatives” to support “Zi Qar” School in northern Idlib countryside- Kafr Yahmoul by undertaking necessary restoration works, provision of basic supplies that served 428 male and female students, and offering 27 employment opportunities in teaching and administration positions.

We Materialize their Dream

Another female student whose story resembles that of hundreds forced to quit education, says:

I am a nine-year old. I have not sat for a class before. Now I attend the third grade and go to school every day with my elder sister who works as a teacher in one of the nearby schools. I dream of being like her.

At the beginning of this year, I entered an examination to determine my attainment level. I passed grade one and two thanks to my sister who used to bring books home and teach me so I do not miss out on education.

A 12-year old who joined the school last year is seen everyday holding his bag with one hand and his little brother’s on the other:

I live with my parents and five siblings in a small house near the school. We suffer from poor living conditions. Before the opening of this school, my father could not afford education for all of us; because the other one was far away and needed transportation. Today, Alhamdulillah, we all go to school.

Implementation Phases

Before embarking on provision of education services, we prepare restoration plans in ways to select the less damaged areas where students are prone to a minor danger. Even if no place is safe in Syria, we try to approach the less hazardous areas.
Although we undertook restoration works at the beginning of the past year, the relentless bombardment of the city affects the school and entails annual restoration. Thereof, we started by restoring doors, windows, rest rooms, boards, and chairs, and bought a new water tank to enable students pursue their education.
Also, we provided all education services to empower teachers and students in their pursuit of education at the best possible condition. Our services included payment of teachers’ salaries, provision of heating during winter, and distribution of stationary supplies and schooling tools to teachers and students alike.

Together and with You, We Keep on Going

Because we believe education is an elementary pillar of civilization; because today we build a child’s future whom if left without education will be prey to abuse, because nothing impairs a society as an ignorant generation, together and with you, we seek to support the students and help them bridge their present to a safer future that keeps at bay the horrors of war that they have endured for so long a time. Their dreams are a strong construction of tomorrow. Let’s stand together for them.
