Ramadan basket with the support of Al Rahma International

The continued war in Syria and the consequent large displacement from various areas to the north has led to a very high population density in those areas and difficulty in providing living necessities. In addition, the weak purchasing power, especially as displacement coincides with the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan, made it difficult for the afflicted communities to provide daily food for their families, which is the most important component of life.

Project Procedures:

“Beyaz Eller Organization”  collaborates with several agencies to implement projects that contribute to realizing food security as means to bridge the gap between the needs and available products in the targeted areas and to provide the minimum basic requirements for the targeted households.

Due to poor conditions which are becoming increasingly difficult for displaced and host families alike, “Beyaz Eller Organization”, with the support of  “Al Rahma International”, has implemented a Ramadan basket distribution project that includes basic food staples and suffices an entire family during the holy month of Ramadan.

The project was implemented in two phases. In the first phase, 650 food baskets were distributed in Idlib countryside-Sarmada- and Atmeh, while the second phase targeted western Aleppo countryside  with 404 food baskets, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 5,270 beneficiaries.

A Side of their lives

While a young volunteer working for the organization tells us about the circumstances surrounding the work…

A 50-year-old man tells us about their living conditions…

“The project starts by obtaining the best prices for the purchase of foodstuffs, and then comes the process of sorting and dividing the materials to be equipped within a food basket for a family of five members for one month. The basket contains the basic elements which help individuals fasting in the month of Ramadan, and then the process of distribution to the target families. One of the biggest problems that we are trying to overcome is to reach as many needy families as possible.”

“We came out of Homs countryside carrying only some necessary baggage that we were allowed to take out. We were suffering from siege and shelling and today we suffer from a lack of purchasing power after we lost our business. We try to adapt to the life imposed on us, but life is very difficult here, especially with the large numbers that come.”

Support continues:

"Beyaz Eller Organization" works continuously to receive cash and in-kind donations from various bodies and individuals and to deliver them to its beneficiaries both inside Syria and in refugee camps in Turkey, which contributes to alleviating the suffering and the evils of war that afflicts poor and helpless families under deteriorating physical, social, and humanitarian conditions.
