Provision of 500 Food Baskets in Ramadan 2017

Provision of 500 Food Baskets in Ramadan 2017

The need for this project occurred as a result of the dire economic conditions that the Syrian people have endured because of the widened gap between the number of population and the amount of basic resources after destroying the later, which led to inability to afford their basic needs.

In Ramadan, the need to secure food and water arises to enable the afflicted population undertaking their fasting duty.

The Financing Partner

Beyaz Eller organization has collaborated with Qatar Charity to implement “Warmth 5” Campaign during the holy month of Ramadan, as means to provide food and water to the families of orphans and the families-without-breadwinners.

Despite critical circumstances, the dire need for food and the severe shortage in food quantities for the majority of the afflicted, displaced, and deported households, particularly the families of orphans and families-without-breadwinners, has called upon Beyaz Eller to extend a hand of support by provision of food baskets to the poor families.

Where Are We Active

Given the acute financial stress in the majority of Syrian areas, driven by war and displacement, 300 baskets were distributed in southern Hama countryside and 200 baskets in northern Homs countryside, following a field survey that identified the number of targeted families in each area.

Project Beneficiaries

The distribution of 500 food baskets followed our “Warmth 5” Campaign that targeted provision of food and water to the families of orphans and families-without-breadwinners during the holy month of Ramadan. Southern Hama countryside received 300 baskets while northern Homs countryside received 200. The total number of beneficiaries reached 2,500 individuals.

Effect

The economic effect included relieving the financial stress of those families who cannot afford their needs during Ramadan, particularly the families of orphans and families-without-breadwinners who were forced on deportation.

On the social and psychological side, providing basic food and water needs for the families of orphans and families-without-breadwinners created a sense of security and social solidarity particularly during Ramadan, when the notions of collaboration and solidarity gain prominence as means to receive reward from Allah (SWT).
