The Russian air-strikes in eastern Syria, al-Raqqa, al-Hasaqa, Deir al-Zour and al-Boukamal forced thousands of Syrian families into immigration. According to Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency of Turkey (AFAD), over 800,000 Syrians sought refuge to Urfa between 2011 and mid-2015. The Turkish authorities provided urgent shelter to the majority of Syrian refugees. However, over 250,000 are still homeless. Increased living charges in the Syrian-populated cities pushed many children to labor market, while women struggle to afford bread and shelter to their families. To alleviate part of their hardship, Beyaz Eller provided urgent alimentary supplies to thousands of the afflicted families. On November 2015, it successfully distributed 4,240 food baskets in Urfa, Hatay and Keles. The project reached 19,440 individuals at a cost of over $110,000. This came in continuation of our efforts to preserve human dignity, and enable Syrian families a sustainable livelihood.
