With direct Russian air-force involved in the Syrian conflict, the humanitarian situation of displaced Syrians is further worsened. The number of displaced families from Aleppo, Idlib, the Coast, Hama, Homs, rural Damascus and Dar’a soared after renewed attacks. As winter cold waves approach, lives of many children and elderly are threatened, especially after reported death incidents last year. In addition, the price of available heaters increased far from affordable to many displaced families; as the value of Syrian lira has locally diminished.
Towards this, Beyaz Eller distributed over 5000 Mazut heaters in Aleppo, Idlib and Homs, their outskirts, in addition to Hama, the Coast, rural Damascus and Dara’a. We also distributed 650 coal heaters in Western Ghouta. The project amounted to 50,000 KWD and reached over 40,000 beneficiaries. This came under Beyaz Eller’s Shelter and Non-alimentary Aid Program that aims at alleviating the suffering of displaced Syrians, preserving their human dignity and enabling them a sustainable livelihood.
