The blockade of Homs and rural Damascus has doubled the suffering for the already afflicted locals. Displaced several times, some families lost their bread-winners and in constant need for support. Meanwhile, savings erode in a flash as crisis profiteers impose grotesque prices on basic alimentary products. To many Syrians, life became extremely tough.
The situation is never better for Syrian refugees in Turkey. With limited incomes and inflating economy, many families are forced into sending their children to work. In response, Beyaz Eller has been active in providing humanitarian relief to afflicted families inside and outside Syria. Between January and August 2015, we distributed 49,509 food baskets. Also, in November 2015, we undertook a project to distribute 6,120 baskets in Aleppo, Idlib, Hama, Homs, northern and southern Ghouta, the Coast, and Dara’a. The project reached 45,090 individuals and amounted to over $225,000. Until this day, our efforts continue to alleviate the suffering of afflicted Syrians, preserve their human dignity, and enable them a sustainable livelihood.
