To extend a hand of support to the displaced and poor families in northern Homs countryside amidst desperate humanitarian conditions that only worsen with a stifling siege, and before their pains revive as they fail to stop their children\u2019s hunger, we undertook a project to distribute bread to the poor households that lack minimum livelihood needs because of the continued shelling, increase in food prices, and decline in their purchasing power.<\/p>\n
The Supporting Partner<\/strong><\/p>\n Based on international humanitarian principles and the notion of \u201cduty\u201d, and given the severe scarceness of bread in the targeted areas, Beyaz Eller worked through funding from \u201cAbdullah Al-Nouri Charity Society<\/strong>\u201d to implement a project of purchasing and distributing bread to the poor households. Our field teams in the Syrian inside have conducted this project using two contracts with the supporting partner.<\/p>\n Where Are We Active<\/strong><\/p>\n The project was implemented in the Syrian inside \u201cnorthern Homs countryside\u201d using results from field surveys of the afflicted areas were people suffer from extreme shortage of bread. It targeted the following towns: Talbiseh, al-Ghanto, al-Rastan, al-Ghagar, as means to support to the displaced poor families who endure a fierce and extensive war.<\/p>\n Project Beneficiaries<\/strong><\/p>\n The organization worked on obtaining and delivering bread to the greatest number of displaced and poor households to decrease food insecurity in northern Homs countryside.<\/p>\n The project resulted into distributing 17,333<\/strong> bread bags; each of the 1,156<\/strong> targeted households received one bread bag for 15 days<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Project Impact<\/strong><\/p>\n The projects contributed to alleviating dire financial conditions in the targeted towns, by securing what the poor failed to afford and providing employment opportunities to those who lost their work, all of which had direct effect on the psychological well-being of individuals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" To extend a hand of support to the displaced and [\u2026]<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":28,"featured_media":9466,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[130,150],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-9468","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-food-security-and-livelihood","category-new"],"yoast_head":"\n
