Water shortage has become a dreadful crisis that associates with a prolonged siege of rebel-held Syrian areas. Together with electricity cuts and fuel shortage, the vicious circle of war have turned Syrians\u2019 livelihood into a nightmare.<\/p>\n
Before the war, the afflicted population relied on water stations operated by the General Commission for Water, along with secondary local makeshift wells- in some areas. With the stoppage of the Commission, due to repeated electricity cuts and the increase in mazut prices, water scarcity has intensified in many besieged neighborhoods.<\/p>\n
To alleviate the crisis, Beyaz Eller rushed to drill two 400-meters makeshift wells, using an electrical driller, in Kafr Segne and Tal Mardikh in Idlib, both benefiting 11,000 individuals. The organization installed a dipper and put the wells to work using KFA400 electrical generators.<\/p>\n
In addition, BE sponsored drilling two more wells in Ghouta to benefit 5,000 individual; it established a water container and dispenser, and hired three workers to guard the dispenser and oversee its use.<\/p>\n
Beyaz Eller aims at resolving the drought crisis and counter-balance the lack of sufficient rainfall in the region. Water scarcity forces people on seeking water from distant sources which increases the cost of transporting water in small containers.<\/p>\n
Our drilling projects have benefited 4,177,332 individuals in 2013, and 5,950,566 in 2014. We delivered drinkable water to 6,193,830 individuals in 2015; the total number of beneficiaries amounts up to 16,321,728 inside Syria. Beyaz Eller works on securing drinking water at diminishing costs to 12 villages, counties, collectivities and camps with over 100,000 residents.<\/p>\n
