The Syrian regime has weaponized water as means to achieve political and military gains. With unremitting offense on electricity stations and depletion of fuel resources, water stations were put out of work- forcing thousands of hundreds to resort to secondary, equally scarce and insecure, water sources. According to UNICEF reports, northern Aleppo witnessed 18 deliberate water cuts in 2015 only. With no water at home, families take on the burden of securing drinking water from street standpipes and collection points. When severely scarce, a water container of 22 barrels costs around 2000-3000 SL, compared to 300 before electricity cuts and increase in fuel prices. Sometimes families are forced onto securing water from distant areas, which increases the cost of transporting water in small containers.<\/p>\n
Therefore, Beyaz Eller\u2019s \u2018Sourcing Life\u2019 Project has drilled a 400 deep well in Ar-Reif, east of Ma\u00e1rat An-nu\u2019man, off Tal Mardikh, where most of displaced Syrians reside. The institution used electric driller, installed a dipper and put it to work using a KFA400 electric generator. Also, the project included establishing a water container and dispenser, and hiring three workers to guard the dispenser and oversee its use.<\/p>\n
Beyaz Eller aims at alleviating the crisis of dried wells around Tal Mardikh, and secure water at diminishing costs to 12 counties, collectivities and camps with over 100,000 residents.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
