Northern rural Homs has been subject to strict blockade by regime forces since October 2015. An estimate number of 120,000 people suffer acute shortage of food, basic commodities, medical items and fuel. Supply routes that used to work irregularly until mid-January are now cut off. As a result, bread prices increased grotesquely, reaching 500 SYP for one bundle- that is 900 percent more expensive than in Homs city. Also, OCHA reports indicate increasing number of malnutrition cases among children and pregnant women, as most citizens cannot afford food when income is unsustainable. Towards this, Beyaz Eller, in cooperation with Abdullah Nouri Organization, has undertaken a project to distribute 17,666 bread bundles, 2 kg each, on 88,330 residents in this area- 3 loaves\/resident. The project followed Beyaz Eller Food Security and Livelihood Program, that aims at alleviating the suffering of afflicted Syrian population, preserving their human dignity, and enabling them a sustainable livelihood.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
